Perfecting your writing craft is a lifelong process
We want to help you every step of the way. Everyone here at the Plot Geek Academy started out not having a clue how to write a story, and we learned, grew, and matured as storytellers, finally coming into our own and finding success. We want the same for you.
But where do you start?
We have courses that have been carefully chosen and crafted to meet your needs as an author, and to help us meet you where you are. We have three categories within the craft courses we offer: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.
You don't have to figure that out on your own.
We and your peers can help you determine where your writing is now, and where you need to go from here. Join our community and ask questions, or book a coaching call or a manuscript evaluation with a member of our team today!
You're not alone. We all started somewhere and we have writers from every walk of life and experience to guide you from the start of your journey toward success. The first step in that process is knowing your craft and working to perfect it. That is work that never stops.
An hour-long introduction of weaving together character and structural arcs in romance with our very own CJ Anaya. This will cover the essentials of romance and how you can make your love stories come to life.
Some people are born with a certain sense of story - born storytellers if you will. But it is a skill that can be taught and practiced. This course will teach you how to begin that work, and develop your own innate sense of story.
In today's competitive publishing landscape, understanding your target audience and the market is crucial for success. Join authors Jana S. Brown and CJ Anaya for this course designed to help authors navigate the essential process of market research
This course is an overview of three act structure, often called the basis for modern storytelling. We'll talk about the history of this plot formula, the elements common to other structures, and take an in depth look at the parts of stories.
Goal, motivations, and conflict are all essential to every part of your story. From character development to scenes and plots, you need all three. This course will lead you through these foundational principles and teach you how to apply them to your fiction.
The Sleuth's Journey, created by our own Troy Lambert, is a modification of the Hero's Journey designed for crime fiction. This course will show you how to use this plot structure to create a darn good mystery in Plottr and other software alternatives.
Here at the Plot Geek Academy, we talk from time to time about story structures and plot templates. But we don't just talk about them. We have a page where you can download these plot templates in your favorite software, and we are adding templates all the time. Check back often for your favorites, and let us know if there are any specific plot templates you'd like to see.
We never sell your data, and we never spam you!
