The non-profit organization, NaNoWriMo has faced some challenges and difficulties internally and with the handling of those issues in a public forum, so many people are leaving the organization. At the Plot Geek Academy, we do not align with the the positions taken by NaNoWriMo, but we believe the process of writing 50,00 new words in a month still has value. So we want to offer authors an alternative.
At the November Novel Challenge workshop on October 26th, you'll learn:
Whether you are a discovery writer or a plotter and architect, there are things you can do to prepare to write 50K words in one month. We’ll give you some tips and tricks that have worked for us and other writers to set your feet on the path to success.
Whether this is your first or your 10th time trying to write 50,000 words in a month, there are things you can do to get your brain ready to accomplish this goal. There’s no time for writer’s block or for staring into space. From write-ins to accountability to goal setting and even appointment setting, we’ll help you get in the right head space for the November Novel Challenge.
From a comfortable chair to a standing desk, and from noise canceling headphones to white noise machines, everyone has something that helps them concentrate. But you may need other things, like a Pomodoro timer, a phone lock box, and more. We’ll show you our setups, talk about the tools we use, and give you advice on how to make your space the welcoming place it needs to be.
The November Novel Challenge will take up a lot of your headspace, time, and energy. Not to mention that there is some kind of holiday in the middle involving turkey, football, and family time. So how do you prepare your friends and family, and let them know how important this is to you? We’ll give you tips and tricks, and things you can do to keep your life balanced while still achieving your goals.
